Branding and Change

Posted by Kyashi at 1:01 PM
In my previous sharing, I've talked about YOU as a brand. YOU as the greatest product you can ever market. And today's lecture in my Advertising Class solidify my personal belief.

My take home on this topic are the following:
1. Your brand differentiates you from the others. It's like our DNA. There are no DNA alike.
2. We should know our essence, the meaning of our brand. And in everything we do, we should stay true to our brand.
3. If we want to change, it's okay. Change is good. Change is better. But to change for the sake of change is not okay - especially if you are not aware of the changes you are doing.
4. Build on the past.

These things I've learned is not only applicable to the industry. It is very applicable to our personal growth.

Your brand differentiates you from the others.
We should know our essence.
These two principles should be embedded in our core. We are unique. God made us individually not in groups. Even twins are different from each other. We should have time to know ourselves - know what we want to do, who we are, where we want to be, etc. We would be unstoppable and amazing once we are able to know these things about us. This knowledge will be our foundation, our core.

Change for the sake of change is not okay.
The constant need to change is part of our system. We change to adapt to our environment. So change is a need to survive. But it is also to constantly improve ourselves. If our goal to improve, then change is good. But if we are not aware why we need to change, if our reasons for change is to please others, then the effort we going to put to that change is useless. The best way to change is to ask for His grace. Reflect upon yourself and discern what His true message is to you.

Build on the past.
Our past is part of our future. We cannot do anything about it because it's done. We can't undo it because life is not built like that. We can only move forward and use our past as a foundation for our future. Let's not repeat the events of the past as this is the most stupid thing to do. Forgive yourself and move on.

In conclusion to today's sharing, you (the brand) and change should work hand in hand. For you to be fully successful in the future (in whatever aspect) you should be able to gel your emotions and rationality. So always remember your brand before anything else. :)
